There's no need for an introduction about this movie I suppose. This film gained its popularity, becoming the talk of the town, blooming overnight and everywhere I go, there is an idle discussion about Christopher Nolan and his great masterpiece. I will applause Nolan for being such an inventive dreamer and this film has just topped my favorites within 146 minutes.
I was all worn out after a morning battle with sleepiness, stuffiness and foot arch pain during clinics, I thought I'm not going to make it through the movie. What more when I'd been challenged to comprehend the Nolan's notion, if not complete, at least 50% would make a do. I have to admit, I do have a shallow mind when it's all about a heavy movie I'm watching. Took me some time to even get a grip on Momento before I pictured a summary. Slow learner but not retard. After reading those spoilers posted on Facebook, I'm was glad the only idea I had about Inception was, it is a heist movie and bears similarities to Shutter Island.
Me and bestie decided to seriously sit in for a good movie. Hands clutching to our favorite waffles and eyes fully visioned at the big wide screen, we anticipated the maze. It reminded me about the preschool epoch where mom used to buy me coloring books and there were mazes in them. Oh, just how I loved solving these puzzles. At some point of time, I learned how to create my own mazes and got either my parents or brother to solve them. I was probably too young then, I drew just lines and circles but without a way out. Stupid enough! Having said all that, it puzzled me at the time of concentration, how can someone create the labyrinth of the subconscious so perfectly detailed and elegantly masterful? This is Christopher Nolan at his very best.
At certain junctures, I was mystified by the plot especially when Mal comes into the picture. When I was about to get a clearer view of it, again I was perplexed. When Cobb is awaken in the plane just before the ending, I thought I captured it all until the totem appears and does not stop spinning. *smacked head hard* What was it that I understood?? The only sanity that supports my understanding from the film is, the totem belonged to Mal and Cobb is in reality. So whether or not it stops spinning, it doesn't concern him. But then, the totem stops spinning during the initial parts of the movie. Ok now, I cannot differentiate between reality and dreams. Fml.
I'm so poisoned, I can't get out of those dreams. Still figuring my way out. Alright, am going for the movie again this weekend!! (: Till then.
