Exploring Ipoh

My last semester break is here at last! Sem IX glided past without my notice and I'm officially left with 10% to complete M.B.B.S.!! It's however the toughest of the toughest to get past that stage. Sigh. Should just keep this worry till I start school.

I'm here in Ipoh and supposed to be back in KL by now, but dad's car overheated and we've gotta stay over for another night. Was supposed to meet Dr. Cheong for dinner too but I stood up because of this. So, when it's Ipoh I'm talking about, there's apparently not many tourist spots I could visit. More of a food trip if we follow the norm, yet we decided to do something different this time.
Dimsum @ Foh San.
I saw this creature at a shop, and my instantaneous reaction was "WAHH!! LION!!", and everyone turned back. See it does look like a cub, doesn't it?? That's a chow chow larhh..
We took the chance to visit the Kellie's Castle that afternoon since we had nothing planned to pass time. For the first time, me and mom didn't want to go shopping cuz Jusco and Ipoh Parade are already a bore to us. It was told that this place is haunted, yet we were there out of curiosity. When I told mom it's a beautiful castle and people always go there for photoshoot, she actually thought it's one of those castles in Disneyland, which was why she agreed to go. LOL you could imagine her reaction when she saw Kellie's castle. She was grumbling endlessly that we tricked her there and how will anyone ever thought of taking pictures with just bricks? Oh, my mom is so cute! How can she think that there's a Cinderella's castle in Malaysia??
The abandoned castle where Anna & The King was filmed.
And these three guys are nuts about SNSD, they even suggested this pose.
Since everyone is in a Korean craze, we went to Daorae for a change to celebrate Jiawei's birthday in advance. Alvin bought him a original SNSD's photo album @ Phuket by SBS, shipped all the way from Korea and gracious me, I never knew my bro can be such a fanatic. He even got one for himself and a few collections of star cards?? Unbelievable. These stuff ain't cheap, okay? Throughout the trip, they kept playing SNSD's songs repeatedly till I keep reciting Gee in my head now. Rawrrr!! And guess what?? My parents are more updated with Korean dramas than me now. They think their children are cool cuz Alvin and I communicate in Korean occasionally. >.< Juu juu juu juu, gee gee gee gee, oh oh oh oh, baby baby.
Dad having fun with the BBQ. We ordered 3 plates of pork and a plate of beef to go with bap, bibimbap, kimchi jjigae, pajeon and ddobukki.

친구

I got to know a new friend this semester. I first noticed her during my year IV finals when she was sitting a stone throw away from me in the hall. She caught my attention once when I looked back and gave me a broad, wide, affable smile which I thought was really sweet. She is friendly, magnanimous, mild tempered yet blur most of the time. In fact, all the time. It seems to me like she's befuddled every second of the day, and it puzzles me a whole heap about her personality. I'd heard stories about her, of various versions from various sources.

Having her around during a conversation was as though she could traverse time, like a time traveler. For a moment she was there, the next, she was gone and into a daze. She would reappear and entreat for a repetition of phrases, sometimes the whole story. My friends and I would rubberneck at each other in unsophisticated wonderment, then someone among us would crack a giggle and our laughters followed suit. She was fine with that. Once in a while, one of us would take the initiative to explain everything right from the start. It was not long after we actualized this bewilderment to be an ado, we stopped repeating our conversation. She would continue to question despite the silence we often came about, but none of us had sincerely bothered to reply her nowadays.

I'm not in the position to judge for I am blur as a matter of fact. It isn't fair either to disregard her presence, yet at such circumstance, it annoyed me pretty much when I was verbally asked to repeat something over and over again - cranky in other word. We had casually made her name a subject of humor when we needed some entertainment. It was nevertheless that guilt had swamped my conscience and made me realized how impolite I'd been. If only I hadn't been so judgmental, I could have been more patient with her. It's gotta be a practice to make good friends.

Think wisely!

Most of the time, I blame edginess for erecting a barricade to my thought process, in fact, the causation as to why I'm dumb. The probability of me blurting out a stupefied answer whenever I'm nervous is almost 99%. Consequently, I'm not thinking. But when I do, I don't do it wisely.

So, we were discussing about Helicobacter pylori today and a question was set forth by the professor regarding urea breath test. What are the principles and mechanism behind the basis for this test? In this test, patient swallows a capsule containing urea made from an isotope of carbon. Not too tough to solve the chemical equation that urea is broken up and turned into carbon dioxide with the help of urease produced by H. pylori. Next, he was asking, how does the carbon dioxide get into the breath since it's called urea breath test? Here's the problem. How??!!

We thought for some time. None of us came up with anything. Alright, this flight of idea struck me. What's the fuss? Carbon dioxide is a gas and it's present in the stomach after the urea breakdown. Wouldn't it be released from the oropharynx in its gaseous form, urhh.. like... burping??!! And everyone agreed. It was irony when someone even took a big gulp of air in and burped. Like hey, exactly! That's how it works!

We googled it after class and here's what we found. "The carbon dioxide is absorbed across the lining of the stomach and into the blood. It then travels in the blood to the lungs where it is excreted in the breath. Samples of exhaled breath are collected, and the isotopic carbon in the exhaled carbon dioxide is measured."

Now, can anyone just knock me hard on my head?? I'm thinking, but not wisely. In other words, stooopeeed!! How can I even think of burping out carbon dioxide mixed with breath? Physiologist taught me well perhaps. :S

Wake me up when Feb ends

Today, I received a phone call from mom telling me big bro is getting married in June! Alright, it's been preponed due to some family traditions the couple have to keep abreast. At least a little something for me to look forward to again! So, you may be wondering, "It's not your own wedding, then why the hell are you so excited?". You know how much I adore weddings? I know it's not the right excuse to use, but hey, my brother is getting married! The one whom I watched him grow (no, he watched me grow) from a kid to whom he is today is going to have a family of his own! This is definitely something to be joyous about, ain't it?

Oh, I have something in mind to talk about a moment ago. I've lost it all from my brains now. This short term memory dearth is annoying me, really!

I've been having this uneasiness lately after being a subject for an ophthalmoscopy examantion for the seniors' OSCE. No, they're not the cause to my restlessness. I'm just exhausted with my daily stress and strive, yet there's no escape from the villian's clutch. Sorry, my bad for calling him a villian. It freaks me out every time I hear his footsteps draw near or feel his arm around my shoulders. Before I realize my mistake, I would have gotten a spank on my back or get chased out of his class. I hate waking up everyday with this unsound thought of truanting class. Sigh. It's driving me insane for goodness sake.

Clock Ticks

Too much of stress drives the brain to insanity!
I know you know that I'm bored!
But there is nothing I can do about it!

Law is not my cup of tea

Was struggling to prepare a slide show presentation for medical ethics and boy, was that frustrating! Probably my vocabulary command is so speculative, I couldn't fathom a single sentence I read and by the time I moved on to the next, I'd forgotten the previous. Just this bad, I kid you not. In other words, it's definitely a blessing that law did not come into my list of pursuits, and taking this field under serious consideration. I'm glad I did not end up as a lawyer, or that will be the end of me as well. Now, I understand why do lawyers speak bombastically and read pages and pages of i-cannot-comprehend sentences like they're as easy as ABC. Oh well, that is as far I've encountered, at least for my friends who do law or are already lawyers, they speak too proficiently. Sometimes I feel simply inferior while communicating.

On a random note, I certainly cannot date a lawyer for that will culminate in a global aphasic relationship. This is true.

Shidan's Birthday

@ D' Tandoori for a decent north Indian cuisine.
Happy birthday JB's fan, Shidan! :D
Sharmie and I outside Dangdut where Siti got curious about the place after she saw a poster of a decent Malay woman with a medal. She was stupefied after opening the door to peep and went 'Ayo, ayo, ayoo...' And the next pursuant statement she made was, 'If something happens to that place, I'll be sent straight to hell. I need to go back and repent.'

Convent Babes Reunion

There was an earlier reunion on the eve, an annual gathering at McD but pathetically, only five people turned out due to the very last minute notice. So, we had went to Sze Ting's on the third day of CNY. She's the girl who lives two doors away from mine, and we used to go to school and tuition together while we were in our secondary level. This time, I got to see Chiow Yin! The mate whom I lost contact with after SPM. Oh, and thanks to Tatwei, I won RM20 that day! How lucky. :D

JMC Gang Reunion

One of the meaningful chapters which I reluctantly closed was the journey prior to where I am now, my pre-U encounter. Succinct as the module might have coursed, one year of life at the campus was curtailed with lots of rules and regulations but nevertheless brought me through the facet of adaptation. The best part about JMC (Johore Matriculation College) was I got to know a bunch of people whom I became best friends with.

This group best mates consisted of four guys and one girl, who was yours truly and we were called the F4 of JMC. Funny, but yeah that was once upon a time. Evenings were always spent together when these guys would wait for me outside the hostel and we'd have a long dinner session, spiced up with weekly movie and occasional group study. That was probably where I got exposed to obscenity?? Like watching The 40 Year Old Virgin and they were literally treating me like their buddies with all lewd words and knowledge taught to me. I was a quick learner, I picked up everything. d: Those were the days we had so much fun and a training ground before I left for Manipal. Having four guys who had walked me back to the hostel was like, 'Wow!! I feel like a princess!'

We had a gathering on the third day of CNY at my residence. Yongwee, Chengseng, Weeping and his girlfriend were around. Too bad, Aikchun lives in KL and couldn't come. That was our second meet up since we went on different routes and universities. It's good to know that everyone is doing well and they're all working adults now, except for me. Let me introduce.
