Hurdling through Pediatrics

While braving through the agonies of grappling a firm foundation about children, I hurdled certain odds. I have this habit of jotting down notes during clinics to keep myself awake and a record to help me remember things since I'm very forgetful. Today, I flipped through the little note book I carried around during Pediatrics posting and cracked a giggle in between the serious attempt of concentration. I was puzzled by my own handwriting for goodness sake. I couldn't recall a thing about writing 'crowns hotel' and 'chocolate cyst' under the heading of 'Vital signs'. I certainly must have fallen asleep during class and more than half of the notebook is filled with words I failed to fathom. Should that indirectly reflect the number of times I fell asleep during class? *shrugs* Perhaps? *winks* Or deffo?

No wonder I left that posting with zero knowledge. ): *triple sighs* That was bad.

Question is, do I take down notes to keep myself awake or keep myself awake to take down notes?

Malaysia International F&B Fair

I've heard a lot about the Malaysia International Food and Beverage Trade by MIFB. On Saturday, I attended this event with my family at PWTC and since none of us brought along a business card, we paid 10 bucks per head for the entrance. I should say, that was an enriching cum prolific experience to be there when it was after all my first time attending such a grand food expo. We tried on all sorts of local products from different countries, specifically those from Taiwan which I loved most! The donut booth was the best I'd seen.
Look how lovely they are! So cute, I'm going to die! Sadly, these are not edible. ): they gave us the donut sprinkled with icing sugar instead. Even if it was just that, I was so addicted to it, I kept returning to the booth to steal more donuts! This booth was actually promoting the machinery at the price of Rm5.5k. I kept pestering my parents to buy the donut maker so I can make my own donuts or for a better purpose, we can make profits out of it! I don't mind becoming a donut seller, seriously. *praying hard for a donut maker*
If you have watched the Mysteries of Love, you'll know why I take this picture. d:
Dad and bro queuing for the smoothie at only Rm2.50 per bowl. I was queuing at the line across them for the ice cream.
There!! My tiramisu ice cream!! (still the orgasmic donut rules) I don't know why Taiwanese make such good sweet stuff?? Sigh, I can't wait to visit that country.
There was a cooking demo by a famous chef (forgotten his name) and a quiz that followed suit. My kiasu momma raised her hand even before the chef finished his sentence. So the question was, what is the QBB ghee made from? Clever momma answered 'Cow!!'. The the subsequent question, 'What of a cow is it made from?' Momma went silent. She didn't know the answer. The crowd whispered to her, 'Milk.' and she answered, 'Milk!!'. She got it right. The chef asked again, 'Do you know where is it from?' Momma paused and stared blankly. The crowd replied, 'Australia!' and momma shouted 'Australia!!' That was how she got the prize. -___- I guess I'll have sugee biscuit stocked in my room soon, cuz she won a big tub of ghee and 2 other smaller tub of i-don't-know-what.
They bought all sorts of balls. Fish balls, squid balls etc etc.
They are all stuffed with otak-otak.
 Glorious cakes!!
At random, I realized I do not look like me anymore. T___T The shape of my face changes everyday due to the braces and I do not like it at all!! T_________T I miss the very chubby cheeks I used to hate before this. I think I look better with them but, too late to regret. I just can't wait to remove it.
Sweet corn!! The man who tendered this booth was laughing at the way I held the fan.
This big baby was acting cute when I turned the camera towards him. Like, what the heck??

INCEPTION

There's no need for an introduction about this movie I suppose. This film gained its popularity, becoming the talk of the town, blooming overnight and everywhere I go, there is an idle discussion about Christopher Nolan and his great masterpiece. I will applause Nolan for being such an inventive dreamer and this film has just topped my favorites within 146 minutes.

I was all worn out after a morning battle with sleepiness, stuffiness and foot arch pain during clinics, I thought I'm not going to make it through the movie. What more when I'd been challenged to comprehend the Nolan's notion, if not complete, at least 50% would make a do. I have to admit, I do have a shallow mind when it's all about a heavy movie I'm watching. Took me some time to even get a grip on Momento before I pictured a summary. Slow learner but not retard. After reading those spoilers posted on Facebook, I'm was glad the only idea I had about Inception was, it is a heist movie and bears similarities to Shutter Island.

Me and bestie decided to seriously sit in for a good movie. Hands clutching to our favorite waffles and eyes fully visioned at the big wide screen, we anticipated the maze. It reminded me about the preschool epoch where mom used to buy me coloring books and there were mazes in them. Oh, just how I loved solving these puzzles. At some point of time, I learned how to create my own mazes and got either my parents or brother to solve them. I was probably too young then, I drew just lines and circles but without a way out. Stupid enough! Having said all that, it puzzled me at the time of concentration, how can someone create the labyrinth of the subconscious so perfectly detailed and elegantly masterful? This is Christopher Nolan at his very best.

At certain junctures, I was mystified by the plot especially when Mal comes into the picture. When I was about to get a clearer view of it, again I was perplexed. When Cobb is awaken in the plane just before the ending, I thought I captured it all until the totem appears and does not stop spinning. *smacked head hard* What was it that I understood?? The only sanity that supports my understanding from the film is, the totem belonged to Mal and Cobb is in reality. So whether or not it stops spinning, it doesn't concern him. But then, the totem stops spinning during the initial parts of the movie. Ok now, I cannot differentiate between reality and dreams. Fml.

I'm so poisoned, I can't get out of those dreams. Still figuring my way out. Alright, am going for the movie again this weekend!! (: Till then.

Singles for an Evening

This is a post-birthday evening meant for Miss Carol who just turned two-three and with our statuses changed to 'single-for-a-day'.  We'd planned for a simple dinner and chill-out session thereafter and since it was to celebrate Miss Carol's birthday, we wanted to go for something like a wild wild night. The occasional dressing up for a girls-night we had in Manipal has become a rare event upon returning to Malacca. We do meet up often, but never a proper grooming done.
Sweet dessert after dinner enlightens the soul. Shisan and Jienyeen couldn't join us later on cuz they have exams coming up. It would be more fun to have them around, certainly. Sadly....

We were indecisive about the venue. The initial plan was to visit Tribe, a quieter pub so that we can talk our hearts out. I'm someone who's for serene ambience. Probably too old for even minor twisting like dancing. We know Carol adores dance floor, so, to compromise that, we headed to Pure. She's really a good dancer, trust me. I, as usual, was a bystander when the girls were enjoying themselves. It was anyway fun to see them moved. While placing our orders, the waiter actually asked 'Do you want carbonated drinks?' Like, LOL!! We must have looked so innocent, huh?? A lady from the next table was so attracted to Carol's enthusiasm, she came and talked to us and brought us some whisky. Even the deejay was so attracted, he told the waiter to serve us each a shot of vodka.
The girls had a sleepover at my place that night and we had some fun in the room. It was a glorious evening with much craze and nonsense. I'm gonna start studying for orthopaedics now!! (:

In Remembrance of Joash

This is a post which I certainly hate writing. As much as I try to avoid, it's inevitable.

A random picture of Jo driving me back to the hospital on 29/04/2010.

I lost a friend, Joash Wee, about a month ago. One of the coolest guys I got to know since 8 years ago, in year 2002. We met in  in HUGE camp, City Bayview, Penang. The first time we talked was in the elevator when I was with Bern. Jo being friendly, turned around to greet and asked for my name. He appeared to be a very good looking guy whom we all adored. The next day, we saw him again when we were lounging at the lobby. We had a little chat, took a group picture and exchanged contacts.

Our occasional updates were via the blogosphere, facebook or MSN. Just recently, I met up with Jo again when I was posted to Muar. Our first meet up, he brought me out for lunch. It was the day I lost consciousness at the dermatology department. Jo came to pick me up right after, got down the car and with a gentle embrace, he held me to the car to make sure I was doing alright. During lunch, he stuffed me full with real good local street food and even ordered extra for take-away for my colleagues. He would give me a buzz whenever he was around, in that little town.

On 29th April 2010, he was back in Muar and I got to see him again. The part of him wiping my seat before I sat down was really sweet. Due to my short lunch break, we had to make things snappy. It was nevertheless a good catch up when this young man whom I appraised told me he got into sports' broadcasting with Malaysiakini. I knew he loved this field, the passion I saw in him every time he talked about sports. We both had a fancy over music and it was a never ending topic whenever we had it rolling. He was apparently one of my rare friends whom I could actually talk about music so freely. We took the same bite in songs we listened, instruments we played, bands we liked and talk shows we watched. Jo had always been a talented musician. Just how amazing to have frequent consultation from him whenever I was stuck with my Radiator. He guided me perfectly.

Never did I know, that was the last time I'd be seeing him. Never did I know, he's be gone from this place to somewhere I know he's definitely happier. Never did I know, it trampled a heart to learn about his demise. It is still hard to comprehend that he left us in a sudden. My mother was reading out a piece of article about how his family coped with the incident. It moved the both of us so much, we thank God for His strength and love showered upon this family. The memories he carved will remain till forever, for as long as I  shall live. R.I.P. Jo. We will meet again in our Father's home.

Belated Birthday on a Night of Eclipse

It was my bad for delaying the lovababe's birthday surprise. Her birthday falls on February the 24th, but due to our busy life, I had it delayed until now. It was always such that we met up at wrong timings or we were too engrossed with updates about the blabs of life. Since we were both back in our little hometown, I thought I should repay what I owed. We made plans for our occasional meet up (which is like a MUST at least once a month) and to pamper the night with sweet romance, we decided to watch The Twilight Saga: Eclipse with Khai Hong.

Earlier that day, I told Mei I'll give her a treat to make up for a belated birthday. And she replied, 'Surprise me!'. Alright, that's something I'm really good at doing, throwing surprises! I decorated some homemade Swiss rolls and merged them into a cake. I know it sounds ridiculous to celebrate someone's birthday this late, but once in an eclipse, all it takes is the measure of an extraordinary to make an event memorable. And I do love this idea!

My little surprise for my lovebabe. Khai Hong's and my own creativity.
SUPER DUPER BELATED BIRTHDAY LOVABABE!!
 Awww!! Ain't she cute??
Halfway through dinner, we saw our former highschool mates, Hwee Ling and Kai Yee at the other side of the restaurant, like what a coincidence!

Anyways, TLS: Eclipse was quite a disappointment. The three of us were laughing nonchalantly at the dialogues instead of feeling passionate. But I still adore the Cullen clan. All of them look good as ever, especially Edward C. :D What a crave for such kinda guy who's really old school and close to extinction. Whatever may be, the night was great as it is.
