Before I forget all the minute details or even completely about the events that took place last year, I should get them posted here to keep my memory in check. There was Ho Chi Minh in early November (2nd - 6th) last year with Gary. That was during my end of posting leave in O&G. Talk about the trip, it was a pretty last minute decision, like a month before? Or even lesser.
We put up at the Koniko Backpackers Hostel. Saigon was where we experienced their (the Vietnamese) poverty and hardships rather than it being a relaxing or grandeur holiday. Also a place we had to bargain for at least 80% off the price offered for things they sell. That was pretty fun actually. For example, buying a pair of shorts for Rm20 instead Rm100. We did that for almost everything we bought, even for the a coconut. Overall, the thing I enjoyed most is probably the food and the priceless homestay experience at Mekong. But should I have more money for traveling purposes, I'll probably not return there. Once is enough I guess though I certainly crave for Vietnamese food every now and then, especially their beef noodles and barbeque pork! I don't have many pictures with me cuz most of them were taken with Gary's phone and I have yet to transfer them. So yeah, just these few.

Gary's fav Bahn Mi (French bread). The first thing we tried before heading to a proper dinner. |

Too lazy to walk to Ben Thanh market the following morning, we took the bike instead! |

To make the tour complete, we visited one of the historical sites. As usual, the moment I entered, I couldn't wait to be out. That happens every. single. time I'm in a musueam, If you're in here, better get a guide to explain the sections inside. Or you'll comprehend nothing like us. |
|
Dinner time! Obliged to try at the French restaurant just along the street where we lived cuz the waiter kept waiving at us, asking us to get in. |

And we call this 'chap fan' in our country. :D |
